Lunar New year....woof woof

Well well how's the ang bao collections?! Is the amount subsential or barely enough to cover the losses at cards/mahjong? hehehe. New yr came alittle early this year. Seems that there is not enough built up of the mood . Most of my friends and I thought that the mood isn't that cheery this lunar new yr. Another surprising thing is I didn't do the usual this new year, that is going chinatown. I suppose it would be nice to be there...jostling with the crowd, soaking in the festive mood. It's alittle too late for that now, though I should be dropping by the Hong bao river at Marina . There will be fireworks at 9.30 pm ,every night till the closing of the event! I just caught it along my corriodor :P It lasted appox 3mins. So what are u munching on right now? Pineapple tarts? chococlates? peanuts? or love letters? Which is your favorite new yr goodie? Mine is pineapple tarts! Ok. enough writing. Enjoy the photos :) What we feast on for reunion dinner = ) Card mahjong session Grandma, brother and cousins :) *click on photos for bigger image *

Near drowning situation

yeah..as what my title suggested... I was in such a situation today. Went swimming with my friend Chong wee, at Toa Payoh pool. The incident occurred after we swam for 35 mins. I kinda adjusted my goggles and little did I realised it didn't fit firmly on my face. Water seeped thru and my vision was clouded. I can never be like some people...they are able to open their eyes in the water. With that ..i started getting all panicky. I wasn't in the deep area yet, but kinda lost it. Tried to swim my way to the wall, and was gasping for air, drinking in lots of water in the process. It was terrible, I can feel myself losing it. I kept reminding myself to hang on and I am not too far from the first lane. Those few mins (couldn't have been more than 3 mins) felt like eternity. I was relief upon reaching the wall. What surprised me was no one seemed to have realised what has actually took place. I suppose I appeared normal to them. But no one was around me when it happened. There were about 4 lifeguards around!! They must have been skivving. I am not sure if I could say I had a close brush with death. The instinct to survive was strong at that moment. I wouldn't want to think of the consequences if I didn't manage to swim myself to the wall. It's time I really take charge of my life and not waste time on frivolous issues and things beyond my control. A good friend reminded me that I should take this Lunar New yr to spring clean my heart...and detox my life. Let's all do that and trash out all the junk and unhealthy feelings we all have!!

hmmmm...i just made myself a nice mug of ice milo!! Saw a new tin of milo in the kitchen-- australian receipe!! Don't get the other one. The aussie one has a richer taste. It has a similar taste to hot cocoa :) Ah...realised I haven't been updating my blog for a few days. U can say that I have been eating and eating... there goes my diet plans. ------------------------*****---------------------- Thursday Nite Venue-Liquid Kitchen Seragoon Gdns Chrissy called me for drinks when I was about to go home (was at bugis village). She was so sweet..picking me up at bugis. Anyway..she suggested Serg. gdns. Quite a few cafes have mushroomed in that 'lil area since I last went there. Quite sua koo..its my first visit to liquid kitchen. The ambiance was okay, plus it wasn't crowded. Ah, it was quite coincidental that both Chris and I wore the same black top :) ------------------------*****---------------------- Friday evening Venue- Carl's Junior Suntec City This sure is a week of first time for me! First time eating Pepper lunch, first visit to Liquid Kitche, and here's yet another first time! First time eating Carl's Junior. hahaha.. yah yah.. i know many of you out there have eaten Carl's . I am kinda behind times ya? As usual, it has been awhile since i last shopped at Suntec. Carl's junior took over Fish and Co at the basement. Fish and co is now located near the fountain area. Lots of restaurants there were given a facelift. I had the Charboiled Santa fe chicken burger, while my friend ate one of the bigger burgers. Carl's junior and Burger King kinda put the burgers at MacDonalds in a bad light. *no meat for the next few days * Feeling really fat*

Pepper Lunch

that was my dinner...@ pepper lunch.. nothing fantastic. I had the chicken and hamburger combo. :] -------------------------~~~--------------------

Yawn

I realised a lot of female bloggers love writing about their love lifes and men issues. I refrain from such entries coz it's just too close for comfort to be writing about such issues . I don't think I would like u guys be it friends or strangers to be reading about them hehehe. I don't kiss and tell that much. ------------------------------------------------------------- I enjoyed my weekend.. someone showed a certain amount of attention on me . That kinda warms my heart :) Though somethings he did irks me slightly hahahha. Caught the movie Blood and bones last friday nite. It's a japanese production and it's not your typical feel good movie. Kinda perverted .

Where is the sun??

What have u been doing on this cold Hari raya haji holiday? It seems that we wouldn't be seeing the sun for quite a few days. Clothes will take a super long time to dry..unless u have a dryer at home. There is a distintive musky smell lingering on my clothes these day :P I love sundried clothes..the freshness..hmmm... I miss the sun. Just finished watching two vcds rented by my brother--- local production "One More Chance" 3个好人 by Jack Neo and Korean movie "April Show". One more chance had both humor and tear renching moments. As usual Jack Neo touches on very localised issues and this time was life as an inmate in the prison and how society view these ex convicts. As for April Show, the movie was rather slow moving , highlighting mostly on the emotional issues faced by the male and female leads. There were rather explicit intimate scences considering this to be a korean production. But both Bae Yong Joon and Son Ye Jin are such eye candies :P definitely sizzling to look at :~~~}

Raining Sunday

With today being a Sunday , plus it was raining this morning...how many of us actually knew that Exercise NorthStarV actually started at 6.30am? I was in dreamland while all that took place . Only knew about it when I watched the news at noon. It has been one lazy day. It has been raining the whole day, causing this melancholic grey mood.

I love late nights.

Feeling sluggish now. Been having late nites these days. I realised more and more people especially teens and yuppies are sleeping later and later. People seem to enjoy the night more than ever. The nite is kinda inviting..quiet, peaceful and great time to reflect. The nite is also seductive. It is luring and many secret 'events' take place during the night. People are also more sensual in the night. I have to admit , I love the night. I am an owl. I seem to be able to express myself better in the night rather than day. Why do we stay up late? Perhaps we are all trying to catch hold of time. Though that is quite impossible. We can but make use of time in the best possible way . One thing Singaporeans love doing at night is eat. Just take a look at the number of late nite cafes..coffeeshops..supper joints around us. Even Macs have gone 24 hours for some of their outlets and they do 24 hours delivery too.

Quotes I like

I suppose some of you may wonder where is my resolution list for the new year. Well, I wouldn't be posting it up any sooner. It's not that I do not have any this year, it's just that it seems rather cliched telling people how I wanna improve on myself, how much weight I wanna lost etc. This post seems meaningless hahaha. Anyway ..here's a list of quotes I like... may it be of inspiration to you in this brand new year!! Quotations If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. Mark Twain Mistrust the man who finds everything good, the man who finds everything evil and still more the man who is indifferent to everything. You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you do not trust enough. Frank Crane Everybody likes to go their own way--to choose their own time and manner of devotion. Jane Austen, (Mansfield Park ) People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,but when the darkness sets in,their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Fear less, hope more;Whine less, breathe more;Talk less, say more;Hate less, love more;And all good things are yours. Swedish Proverb All the world's a stage,And all the men and women merely players.They have their exits and their entrances,And one man in his time plays many parts,His acts being seven ages William Shakespeare (As You Like It ) I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainty that just to be alive is a grand thing. Agatha Christie Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself. Harvey Fierstein Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future. Paul Boese Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life." Burton Hills

It's a new beginning

New yr celebration fireworks from Esplanade . I didn't go anywhere for the countdown. Instead, I kept my grandma company in the hospital and went home around 11pm . Managed to catch the fireworks from my corridor. Certain issues have cropped up, hence I haven't been myself these days. Trying to work them out.. it's more or less an internal conflict and mindset issue. Wish me luck!
